NYC Coffee Shops: Where to Find Flourishing Plants

Overview:
Lifestyle

New York City is home to thousands of amazing, aesthetically pleasing, and delicious coffee shops, but there are only a handful of places that make our exclusive Flourish list. Let’s be real, when you grab that cup of joe in the morning, or you want to find that place to bury yourself in a good book, or maybe crank out a few hours of work, why not surround yourself with some beautiful plants? We’ve got you covered and narrowed down the best coffee shops in NYC with Flourishing plants.

#1 - Kicking off our list is Rosecrans in the West Village. With one of the most ideal locations in the heart of the West Village, Rosecrans is a charming little spot. Notorious for a delicious, but not bitter, cold brew, Rosecrans offers indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a small menu of light breakfast and lunch bites. They also have an amazing array of potted plants, hanging plants, and a refrigerator filled with fresh flowers for your choosing. Snuggle up with a book on a rainy day here, and you won’t be disappointed.

#2 - Plantshed in Nolita is an easy #2 on our list. With three other locations in New York, Plantshed is easily accessible for all boroughs. The Plantshed on Prince Street is a beautiful space with ample plants and vessels to choose from. Offering a robust amount of potted plants and picked flowers, there isn’t much that Plantshed can’t provide on the plant front. To top it off, they have delicious lattes with beautiful latte art. This is definitely a fun space to visit with friends on the weekend, or to stop in and grab a new house plant.

#3 - If you are a Brooklynite, I am sure you are already familiar with the amazing coffee, home decor, plant & flower shop; Homecoming. With two locations in the Brooklyn borough, Homecoming is a one stop shop for just about anything and everything you would want in your New York apartment, so come prepared to swipe a card. Their plants feature anything from small to large apartment-friendly potted or hanging plants, but they always have unique cacti and snake plants on display. If you’re there on the right day, you may even spot a celeb.

#4 - Coming in at #4 is another charismatic little spot, Remi Flower & Coffee on Second Avenue. Although this coffee shop is more centered around cut flowers and arrangements, making for a beautiful array of scents, they still provide a small display of potted succulents and apartment-friendly plants. This cozy spot is perfect for grabbing their infamous rose or lavender latte and taking a break from the busy city with some friends.

#5 - Heading back to Brooklyn with #5, Devoción was sure to be included on this list with one of the coolest live plant walls inside their bustling coffee shop. In addition to this unique feature, Devoción is filled with large potted Monsteras and Calatheas that certainly like to show off. This is also one of the larger coffee shops featured on our list with ample seating, an extensive coffee menu sure to impress, and yummy pastries & lunch items.

#6 - The Louis (to-go) at the Public Hotel is definitely an honorable mention on our list. Ian Schrager’s hotel has a beautiful outdoor garden space, but on the inside is carefully curated with luscious live plant walls and potted beauties, really making you feel like you are escaping the concrete jungle. The Louis offers coffee and tea with small bites to-go for hotel guests and patrons passing through. The Public has so much beautiful space to offer, this is a great spot to grab a coffee from and grind out some work.

#7 - Stumptown Coffee Roasters is an all-time NYC classic that hails from Portland, Oregon. With multiple locations known for their excellent brew, some claim this could be the best coffee in New York. Lucky for us, they are also plant lovers at all of their locations! Their 29th street location at the Ace Hotel is unique with their spacious atmosphere, but they don’t forget to include some great potted bird’s nest ferns, swiss cheese plants, and money trees, bringing a homey feeling to the space.

#8 - Sweatshop Coffee is a modern, cool, some would call it “hip”, Australian cafe in Brooklyn offering yummy brekkie and delicious coffee. The minimalist atmosphere in the cafe is highlighted by beautiful potted plants and some natural ivy growing in the outdoor seating area. We also really love the fact that they use Aesop products in their bathrooms - not bad!

Coffee and plants really seem to go hand in hand. At Flourish, we cultivate growth in the spaces that matter most, and it’s great to see so many unique New York City staples do the same. Check out some of these spots and let us know what you think!
